🔧 HSC MOM HACK OF THE WEEK
Heavy Work = A Simple Trick for Big Calm
When your child is buzzing with restless energy, struggling to focus, or melting down, “heavy work” can be a game-changer. Heavy work means any activity that uses big muscles and joints—pushing the laundry basket, carrying groceries, wall push-ups, pulling a wagon, climbing the playground, or even vacuuming.
Mom tip: weave it into natural transitions throughout the day. Have them do wall push-ups before school, carry their own backpack in the morning, jump on the trampoline after homework, or help push the grocery cart when errands start to feel overwhelming.
For highly sensitive kids and kids with ADHD, these simple bursts of deep pressure input work like an anchor for their nervous system. It helps them feel calmer, more organized, and ready to handle the next part of the day.
